Warhammer Ancient Armies is a supplement to the Warmaster Ancients rule set for ancient wargames. It includes 20 new armies for the Warmaster Ancients game, a comprehensive section on fighting campaigns, and additional new and amended rules of play.

The rules for campaigns describe a territory based campaign game suitable for tournament, club or casual use. Included are tables for generating territories typical of the ancient world, intrigues such as espionage and ambassadors, events such as civil uprisings and rampaging barbarians, bonuses for individual units of troops, and upgrades for commanders. This is a brand new full-colour supplement for the increasingly popular Warmaster Ancients game. You will need a copy of the rulebook - available separately.

The rules for sieges are designed for fighting out the concluding stages of a siege on the tabletop using all the engines of war of the day including siege cannons, trebuchet, siege towers and battering rams. Fortifications and counter-works are covered in some depth with rules for siege-craft prior to the battle taking the form of pre-game engineering and construction - including such things as siege towers, defensive hoardings, counter-mines, and so forth. Combat within and around fortresses using mobile siege towers, scaling ladders and battering rams is all described in detail. Suitable rules are provided for fighting from towers and ramparts as well as around gateways and breaches. Outbreaks of plague, tunnelling, relief forces, civic unrest and other elements are covered as randomly determined events. The efforts of spies, saboteurs and other miscreants are similarly provided for with a special treachery chart.
