Warlord Games Black Powder (28mm)

This box set is designed to allow you to field one regiment of Russian infantry; the variants in the box allow you to both musketeer and grenadiers along with a command section to lead them into battle. A selection of flags from a number of regiments is provided so you can get them into the action right away.

Each Black Powder 1812-1815 Napoleonic Russian Line Infantry boxed set contains 4 metal and 28 plastic miniatures. It also includes Standard and Finials.

Charles Edward Louis John Casimir Sylvester Maria Stuart, or as we shall simply call him, Bonnie Prince Charlie was the pretender to the British throne in the mid-18th century. Landing in Scotland with a tiny escort he raised the Clans and marched an army south into England pausing only to devastate a Government army that tried to block him at Prestonpans.

At Culloden Moor, he faced the brutal and efficient Duke of Cumberland and his redcoats. He lost most of his army in this battle, the last major battle on British soil and fled into exile and legend.

Dressed in his famous Redcoat and either Albert Shako or forage cap for comfort, it was fellows like these that spearheaded the British assaults.

The box contains the line companies and of course the two flank companies with their more elaborate shoulder decoration, so that light and grenadier companies (indeed fusiliers too) can be represented.

The Duke of Cumberland, was a younger son and favourite of the brave George II of England. He grew up to command large British forces on the Continent after initially trying out for the Royal Navy. He fought bravely and well in the endless battles of the mid-18th century, being wounded at the Allied victory at Dettingen.

The Zulu army was a formidable foe. Well-trained, well-led, and well-equipped for campaigns, the Zulu regiments were the terror of Africa. Created by the great Shaka, founder of the nation, each regiment was composed of small companies who trained together, and a regiment could be 1,000 men strong.They were then brigaded together to form divisions that could move at great speed and with drilled precision, forming the classic Zulu attack formation of the Horns of the Buffalo.

The military system formed units into married and unmarried units, so a cadre of young men would be forced to remain unmarried on the King’s orders until they had “washed their spears” in the blood of their enemies. They are armed with throwing spears, smoothbore muskets and the deadly stabbing short spear whilst their patterned ox-hide shields help identify their parent regiment.

The Landwehr were Militia formed from teenagers through to men in their 40s. They were plucked from their fields, shops and offices and enrolled into the Prussian military machine to enlarge the forces that could finally depose Napoleon, the tyrant of Europe. Prussia was a small State but her armies were well trained and burning to avenge their past defeats. The Landwehr consisted of over 60 battalions and were equipped and trained as time and money allowed. A cheap but warm coat, comfortable cap and a musket was considered uniform enough to get enough troops out into the field for the restricted Prussian army of the time.

The Landwehr fought bravely in the latter wars of the period, fighting hard in the 1813 campaigns and ultimately at the crescendo that was Ligny and Waterloo. Ill-equipped and half-trained they may have been, but after a few months had sorted out the wheat from the chaff they went on to fight with determination alongside their brothers in the Prussian Line regiments, their very innocence at war sometimes spurring them on to great things with patriotism being what it is!

Each Black Powder Prussian Landwehr boxed set contains 27 plastic Landwehr and 3 metal command. It also contains metal standard poles and finials.

All Prussian infantry were well-trained and drilled, and the Landwehr were no exception, if time allowed infantry could advance in a manner of ways, but advancing “at the trail” seems to have been the favoured mode, allowing a quick pace, whilst keeping the temptation of stopping to fire away from a nervous soldier under fire.

This blister pack contains 3 great models than can transform your Landwehr battalion into a mini diorama, or simply give you a differing choice of command.

It has two choices of officer, randomly supplied, and a "twinned" figure of a wounded ensign being supported by his Drummer comrade..includes flagpole and finial.

A splendid depiction of a senior Landwher officer of the Napoleonic wars. these Reservists fought in the wars of liberation of 1813-1815, culminating in their great victory at Waterloo where thay distinguished themselves at Ligny and Plancenoit.

These fellows can be placed alongside the plastic boxed set of Landwher and could easily represent their Colonel and aide.
